Since I haven't got it to work with the RPM. I uninstalled the package and followed the diredtions on using the .tar.gz file named
mysql-standard-5.0.16-linux-i686-glibc23.tar.gz
at
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/installing-binary.html
after following the directions I did this
[root@localhost local]# cd mysql
[root@localhost mysql]# bin/mysqld_safe --user=mysql &
[1] 3304
[root@localhost mysql]# Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /var/lib/mysql
STOPPING server from pid file /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid
051201 20:12:17 mysqld ended
It looked like it started but then ended. I am at a loss.
Does version 5 work with FC4? I can not seem to get them to play together no matter what I try
Any help would be appreciated
