Upgrade Mysql 5.5.29 to 5.5.44

Hi,

I want to upgrade MySQL 5.5.29 on ubuntu 12.04 server to MySQL 5.5.44. What's the steps for this. The MySQL 5.5 documentaion on upgrade seems to refer upgrade between series, whereas here I am doing upgrade to a later release within a series.

I have never done an MySQL upgrade before. My guess the steps are:

1) backup db's
2) Stop MYSQL server
2) Install new MySQL release over the current one
4) Start MySQL server
3) Do I need to run mysql_upgrade program?

Now in case I want to backout, just wonder how I can do that. With the above steps the old version was owverwriten.

Hope you can give me some ideas. Thanks.
