Hello,

I know the original post was about NT, but since I am sure some people here run Linux, here's the solution...
Recompilation of PHP should solve the problem, when configuring, instead of:

./configure -with-mysql
do:
./configure --with-mysql=/path/to/mysql
from there on proceed as usual ... make && make install
