Installation fails on Snow Leopard

Hi,
I have a Mac which runs Snow Leopard (10.6).
So I downloaded the mysql-connector from here:
https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/ as a .dmg image and tried to install it.
Unfortunately the installer fails.
Does anybody knows what to do and how to install it on the system?
Unfortunately the installer does not tell me what the problem is - it just says that the install fails.
