mySQL Server upgrade on OSX El Capitan Advice Please
I am a developer and I run mysql 5.6.26 Community Edition on my MacBook which is running OSX El Capitan. I would like to update my mySQL server to the latest release 5.7.16. I recall that I used the .DMG installer package to install originally. Can some give me some instructions on how I upgrade in this enviroment. Does the latest .DMG file do all the hard work or do I have to manually unistall the old version - and if so how ?
I know how to export the databases I am running - but I'm clueless when it comes to the techie stuff of mysql programs and folders. At the moment mysql server starts up automatically when OSX boots up.
