Would a possible solution be this as well?
Import the 5.5 database into a 5.6 MySQL instance. The 5.6 MySQL instance would be a different VM, virtual machine.
Then, once the original DB was imported and saved as a 5.6 DB, then could I take that and import it into a 5.7 MySQL instance?
