Hello Charles,

Visual Studio requirement is only needed for MySQL for Visual Studio product, currently there is a bug in the Installer where Visual Studio 2017 could not be detected and you can find it in following link: https://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=88034, if you go to previous link you can see this bug is fixed on Installer 1.4.21 version. In order to get the latest Installer version you would normally do a catalog update so the Installer checks online for updated versions of MySQL products, but another bug fixed in 1.4.21 could be preventing you to get the update this way. So the workaround in versions < 1.4.21 is to open the Windows Task Scheduler and manually run "Task Scheduler Library\MySQL\Installer\Manifest Update" or wait for the new Server versions to be published. There is also another workaround, for this you need to download the stand-alone MSI from https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/windows/visualstudio/ and install it from the MSI.

Regards,
Luis
