Hi Peter: I did your 3 steps but the same error. I received this message in Windows Server: “The MySQL80 service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs”. Returning the original my.ini file, the $datadir%\*.pem files were recreated as if nothing had happened. This time I discovered that this error it happens if I make any change in the my.ini file (for example, if I add a simple line in blank??) so my understanding is I can not change manually this file in Windows Server 2012 for some weird reason (in Windows 7, no problem as I said before). I am confused trying to find out some clue or similar case in
