Macintosh 8.029 issue

Hi

I am able to use version 8.0.26 fine with a data directory on a separate volume (a usb drive) rather than the start up volume. I simply selected a different data directory (in the configuration tab) and modified permissions for such after copying the contents of the data directory over.

For some reason this won't work in 8.0.29. I can't seem get the server to start when my data directory is located on an external volume. Also tried pointing 8.0.29 to the old data directory on the external volume. That wouldn't work either. Any ideas?
