Issues with installation on Debian alongside mailutils

I'm working on Debian 12. I have MySQL 8.4.1 community installed. I also want to use mailutils.
When installing mailutils some additional mariadb related dependencies are installed with it.
After installing mailutils, MySQL fails to start, possibly due to configuration files related to mariadb that install with mailutils.
How can I install mailutils without breaking MySQL Server?
