Re: unable to start mysqld.service but command line works
Hi Danny,
Thank you! I have not had the chance to run the steps you have suggested but trust that is the issue. I was wondering why with the only mysqld path set in my.cnf it insisted on using /var/lib/mysql for the socket solved by adding mysql client section to my.cnf. I have errands to run this morning but will make the testing you suggested. From there, assuming the testing proves positive, I will make the decision to use the vendor paths, keeping selinux enforced for mysql versus uninstalling and starting over with a package from Oracle MySQL Community.
I will post an update this afternoon. Thanks again for pointing in a direction to further investigate. I do admit the selinux behind the scenes is baffling to me much of the time/
Jim
