Re: ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)

Hello,

I have the same problem here. I installed Fedora Core 6 off of DVD, then used the built in gnome software update to install mysql. Everything seemed to work until I tried to run it. I can't use any of the utils to add the root password or anything. What is this "mysql.sock statement?

I see that the my.cnf file says it should be in /var/lib/mysql, but it is not there.

Any help would be appreciated.
