The my-huge, my-large, etc, files are sample configurations, possible starting points, etc. These files will not be used as your actual configuration unless you rename or copy one of them to my.ini and place it in the appropriate location. It's important to set up a config file so MySQL will know where it's data files reside, etc. A very simple one only has to specify basedir and datadir:

[mysqld]
# set basedir to installation path
basedir=C:/mysql
# set datadir to the location of data directory
datadir=C:/mysql/data
