Maybe they don't bother reading the newbie section.

I'm getting this error too. I just has SQL installed on my server - I'm not sure which version it is. - I can connect to the MySql DB with phpbb, but I need to import an old forum so I installed this administrator tool.

I 'm confused by this tool, so of course I think I'm doing something wrong, but it looks from this thread like there may be another problem. For the stored connection should I enter my host with the same username and password that I use to log in via FTP? Is the username and password in the main page for the database, or for my host? Where do I enter the database name -- or do I? Should I use the same port that works with FTP or another one?

I'm using Windows 2000. Maybe someone can stear me toward a tool that works in Win2k so that at least my troubleshooting will be meaningful. I don't mind using a line command tool - there are just so many things listed on the dowload page that I don't know where to start.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Gretchen
