WOAH! This article is the PERFECT explanation and makes perfect sense. I get 1959, not 500*4 because there are left joins on profile and members, and some records there do not exist.

I think that they should say "Rows returned: 500", "RECORDS examined: 1959" instead of rows. That would have given me a hint :)

Thanks a lot Daniel, very good article, and i can stop banging my head ! Why didn't I think about posting here rather than banging my head against the wall for 2 months!
