not optimizing the table after index is created

I have created a single index on two columns.
After that I ran the Optimize table command. Optimization of the table is not successful and it suggests to analyze. the following message came
note : Table does not support optimize, doing recreate + analyze instead
status : ok.
I donot understand the note. table type is Innodb.
