The Query cache will never give the "wrong" result; something else is causing what you are seeing.

> query_cache_size=1G
This is likely to cause more performance degradation than improvement. I recommend no more than 50M. (Or turn it off.)

To assist in analyzing slow SELECTs, please provide
* SHOW CREATE TABLE tbl\G -- engine, indexes
* SHOW TABLE STATUS LIKE 'tbl'\G -- sizes
* EXPLAIN SELECT ...\G -- clues of inefficiencies
* SHOW VARIABLES LIKE '%buffer%'; -- cache size
and surround them with [ code ] and [ / code ]
