Hi Rick,
The server has 64GB RAM, running on SSD's in RAID 10. So I/O shouldn't be the issue.
Regaring the left join: normally I do select data from the joined table, just removed it here to simplify the situation.
OPTIMIZE is executed every night, so statistics should be up to date. So I guess there's isn't anything I can do about this?
