Timour, you got it.
I don't have any readily reproducable examples for you, and performance is fine in the one DB I have with a cleanly structured star schema, but it has only 3 million rows and a half dozen dimension. Kimball's Data Warehousing Toolkit could be a good source of scenarios and examples that any product would want to address.
