What you experience is most likely some unrelated problem. I
downloaded "mysql-5.0.45.tar.gz" from all the 66 mirrors on the
page
http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mirrors.html
and could not find any mirror with the problem we have had
recently. I also tested two other files previously corrupt and
had the same result, could not reproduce. Remember that the problem
was that corrupted files had the correct size and timestamp,
fooling the normal update of mirrors in that situation.
What I could see now was a few, 2-3, random hangings in download.
This could be network related problems or overloaded servers. I did
not try redo the download on a server where the download failed.
Two mirrors returned a too short file for "mysql-5.0.45.tar.gz",
and there were similar problems with the other packages I tried.
But out of 66 mirrors I don't consider this "critical" warranting,
a general alert. Of course we will try improve the situation over
time.
If you think my findings are incorrect, please file a bug report
at
http://bugs.mysql.com/ and point out the exact file and mirrors
you have this problem with, and we will try sort it out,
