Is it bad form to answer your own posts?

In case someone has a similar question the answer appears to be yes, Or most probably yes.

Once I set up a more or less modern OpenSolaris environment with SunStudio compiler, I was able to config and compile with no errors and only two minor warnings.

On a side note.. Man what is it with Solaris and automake and aclocal ? Are automake and aclocal some horrible violations of some posix standard and the OpenSolaris team has grudgingly allowed us to have them but we have to link them and discover them ourselves ?

That is the feeling I get, so note to anyone compiling on OpenSOlaris, you may need to chase down copies and build symbolic links to automake and aclocal.
