Building just mysql / mysqldump with a prefix option from source possible?

Greetings,

We have access to a MySQL DB server of the following spec:
5.5.49-0+deb7u1-log - (Debian)

Is it possible to build from Debian's MySQL source for that version just the mysql / mysqldump commands to backup / restore databases on the remote DB server with a custom prefix jailed to our home directory of the server?

If so, please point me to docs on just building these two utilities rather than building all of MySQL.
