Not currently possible. Scheduled events can be used only to schedule the execution of SQL statements.

Considering how many platforms we support, I suspect it will be a long time before we make it possible to do something like what you're suggesting. I certainly would not expect this to happen in 5.1.

My suggestion would be to write a Perl or other script that checks the table(s) and performs accordingly, then run it as a cron job.
