Error creating events (5.1.24-rc)

I've installed 5.1.24 and I'm trying to play around with the new events system, however each time I try to create an event, I get the same error:

mysql> create event `new_event` on schedule every 1 hour do set @a = 1;
ERROR 1538 (HY000): Failed to store event body. Error code 1 from storage engine.

The rest of the database seems to be functioning correctly.

I've tried this on at least 3 different servers, all running MySQL-server-community-5.1.24-0.rhel5.x86_64.rpm on CentOS 5.1. Each time I get the same error.

I'm not sure if this is a stupid DBA error or a bug, since I can't seem to find any information on the storage engine. I tried changing the default storage engine to 'MyISAM' from 'InnoDB', but it doesn't seem to matter.

If anyone has events working on this combination of OS/RPM, or of anyone has any insight into tracking down the specific error, I would appreciate it.
