Maybe MySQL is a great piece of software. Maybe professionls trained long enough will be able to use it.
But a lot of people never will know if MySQL is useful cause you don't offer the possiblility to start it fast and simple.
Instead of giving reasonable guidande to get your software working within 30 minutes you offer a parcours of stumbling blocks stuffing the newcomer with a lot of unseless information and making him guess, what your imagination for the next step could have been.
Your Windows Installation Wizard is a step into the right direction, but it's not enough.
It's good to create a passwort during installation, but it's not good that the newcomer has to guess what user he has to type in to connect first time, and it's not good that he has to guess that your 'root' itn't a root but a name of a user. (Do you know anybody in your neighborhood who calles himself 'root') When you think it wise to select this name, you have to inform your customer, that your funny choice is meant as name.
And what concerns the usage of MySQL from within Windows the newcomer doesnt want to guess, if this usage is possible or he has first to do what? And when the newcomer found out, that there might be the need for some ODBC stuff.
Good Guidance would solve all these difficuties autamatically and say in simple words what has to be done additinally.
So please improve your software to be good guidance.
Regards Martin
