Specifying text type length
Newbie question, but one I can't find an answer for anywhere:
I don't seem to be able to specify a length for the 'text' type in MySQL - I can't seem to specify a length using the phpmyadmin interface, nor by using a SQL statement.
Is it even possible to specify a length for this? I thought specifying field lengths was a best practice. Does the 'text' type auto-truncate or something like that, rendering specifying the length superfluous? Or am I missing something?
Thanks for the help.
