The English version is the original version, and is continually updated (often daily!). Translations are done periodically from snapshots of the original. In this case, the French is probably a translation of what the English text said prior to one or more edits.
The text of the online (English) documentation is the most up to date version. When we make additions or corrections to it, those changes usually don't take longer than a day or so to propagate online.
