MySql on SAN

A total newbie....

My environment is as follows. I have multiple HP-Ux boxes that run my application. I was thinking of doing the following.
Configure my SAN over NFS. Thus I can share the mount point across all the systems.
Then I would install the mysql database on the SAN. Would my application running on different UX boxes be able to access the mysql database now? Since logically the mysql is only on one device, would it still need some clustering software.

Any help would be appreciated.
