Hardware for maximum read performance

I need some suggestion to choose the hardware to get the maimum read speed from disks. I've a datawarehouse growing at about 100Mb per day and every day I need to do reports running large table scan. I'm not warried about reliability and write performance, I just need maximum read performance. The reports run sequentially, one by one so I don't need 10k or 10k rpm disks to have low seek times. I'd like to have cheap 500/750gb sata2 disks and 1 or more controllers (if needed)

I think I've to choose some raid 0 solution, but in many articles I've read that it doesn't scale.

What do you suggest? I've a budget for disks and controllers of about 2000$

Thank you!
