SAS vs SCSI on RHEL4 x86_64

Hi,

we've got a bunch of servers running MySQL 5 in a replication setup, on RHEL4. Some have SCSI disks and some have SAS disks, other than that they are identical. We are seeing occasionally much slower replication performance on the SAS machines than the SCSI although my understanding is that the performance should be pretty much identical to the SCSI drives (they are the same model of disk, just different physical interfaces).

My only thought has been that perhaps the SAS drivers on RHEL4 are not mature enough. Has anyone had any experience with this sort of scenario?
