I'm looking for advice on configuring hardware for mysql, as this is the first time. I have a Proliant ML350 avaialable to use with 6 bays for scsi drives. I've heard regarding databases, that generally you want OS, database, and sometimes transaction logs on separate drives. I was considering having Windows on a mirror set of drives (15K), and raid 5 on the remaining 4 disks (10K). This will fufill redundancy and capacity requirements. If I borrow from the 4 disks, then I sacrifice capacity. Of these two containers, where should I put transaction logs? Can I change my mind later and benchmark both ways?
