Database efficiency question

Greetings everyone,

Having an issue with the creation of my schema.

I have 2 tables: Customer, Product

I need to keep track of which product each customer has. The website will be checking on each login which product the customer does not have and will display it to them.

I have 3 options:

a) create a seperate table to store all the product IDs and customer IDs
b) create a prod ID for each customer and do a select from product.prod_id where there is not one in customer.prod_id
b) create a cust_id in product to do the same as b)

Which of the 3 would be less strain on the database?

Thanks in advanced!
