Hi Amanda;

You have a pretty typical reporting situation it sounds like. If you must stick with open source applications, then I suggest looking into JasperSoft (http://www.jasperforge.org). The free JasperSoft Community Edition is pretty powerful, but it does have it's limitations (you get what you pay for).

If you are looking to report on large amounts of data, what you will likely want to do is use an ETL application to aggregate the data and store it in a data warehouse to then use for reporting.

The first step would be to get the business requirements (i.e. what dimensions and measures they need), then design a schema for the data warehouse, and then design the ETL packages to populate the data into the data warehouse.
