Do all customers have both "right" and "left"?
Did you consider 2 rows in one table -- one for "left", one for "right"?
1:1 is rarely a useful design pattern; it is usually better to have a single table.
Please provide SHOW CREATE TABLE for your tentative schemas. (In other words, I would like to see a little more before providing opinions.)
