convert to .dbf using php

Hello everyone,

I am about to embark on a project to re-build a database for a local company. I need to convert a stand-alone Access Database (not created by me) to MySQL because Microsoft told this company that Access was not designed to handle the tens of thousands of records per table (about 12 tables per database(3 databases)). I think MySQL could better handle this. Also, I'm going to make it web based so thier 3 facilities can share information easier.

The problem is this:

They are using a program for invoicing that thier corporate office will not allow to be changed (thier current VP wrote it years ago). It's an old DOS Program called Platinum. Anyway, how thier system works right now is Access has a query and those results are exported to .dbf and Platinum pulls the information from the .dbf file.

I have searched on this site and and I cannot find exactly what I need, but I am not sure exactly how to extract information from MySQL to .dbf using PHP.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction? I only have about 6-8 weeks to complete this project (including transfer of all existing data....wish me luck).

Thanks for your help,
Johnie Karr
