Avviare mySQL su OS X Maverick al bisogno in modo semplice

Salve a tutti,
sono un neofita assoluto di mySQL, anche nuovo su questo forum, e sto incontrando i primi problemi com mySQL.
Ho fatto l'installazione con il pacchetto .dmg fornito da Oracle ed è andato a buon fine e ho creato il mio primo db senza problemi.

Mi stavo chiedendo se non fosse possibile avviare il server a richiesta, non al boot quindi, in un modo più semplice che dover entrare in Preferenze di sistema e agire sul pannello mySQL.
Si potrebbe, ad esempio, salvarsi uno script che avvia il server?
