MySQL causing memory leak in explorer.exe

After discovering 5.8 out of 8.0 GB of memory allocated to explorer.exe, Win 7 Home Premium, I started a search for the cause.

In my amateur radio satellite setup, I regularly run a number of programs including Log4OM which uses MySQL for its database. Keeping track of the memory allocation of explorer.exe, I eliminated running programs one by one. But the allocated memory just kept increasing.

Killing the two processes associated with MySQL resulted in a stable memory for explorer.exe.

So it seems something associated with MySQL and explorer.exe is creating a memory leak which will eventually consume all available memory.

I am running MySQL Server 5.6.20.
