Empty result for SQL statement I know produced 884 rows, nRetCode = -1, ErrorCode and State both empty

I have a very perplexing problem. I pass MySQL a perfectly good SQL statement that I know produce 884 rows. It works on most of the servers we have except for 1. The ODBC call throws an exception, the nRetCode is -1, and the reason and state are both empty..

Any idea what the cause is? Or suggestions on how to find it.

Thank you in advance for the help.

PS: MySQL 5 with the latest ODBC drivers.
