Hi My Friend,
I guess it's just that I FTP all my Images, Zips and so forth in Binary mode, and thus BLOB makes sense (if only that it is the Binary Large Object) and that I've never seen file storage in TEXT mode, always BLOB.
I believe Flickr uses MySQL in the same manner, but would love to know if they have any tricks...
