This is very bad news!

Fulltext search for other table types besides MyISAM is on MySQLs roadmap for many years now.

Jim, we all know that for many setups MyISAM performs terrible, not to say sucks.
There is a reason that MySQL AB used to always recommand InnoDB for productive environments. Fulltext search was long promised for InnoDB - but I doubt that it will come any time soon.

I think with Falcon, MySQL finally needs to keep the promise
to provide Fulltext search for a "better" table type too.

Jim, please make sure that Fulltext search gets a high priority!
The current combination that you can only get Fulltext search together with table locking is terrible.


Please give us a timeframe when Falcon will support Fulltext keys.
I would be good for the users to know if it will makes sense for to wait
or write our own UDFs to get Fulltext search.
