The maximum address space on 32 bit machines is 4GB, though some operating systems limit address space to 2 or 3 GB. Falcon doesn't -- and probably never will -- play games with the address space to access more physical memory. We expect that most users who want to address more physical memory will (or have) cut over to 64 bit machines.

But let me put in a plug for the record cache. Large memory is better used caching records than pages. Not only is the cache more efficient from a memory perspective, the CPU cost to reference a record in cache is a small fraction of the cost to reference the same record on page in the page cache.
