Re: mysql_install_db error
Please check your my.cnf file. I had the same issue when trying the 6.0 alpha in ubuntu. It was reading the --skip-bdb option in the /etc/mysql/my.cnf file. I commented it out and the install ran fine. I suspect this entry is in the ubuntu default config files and not on other distros. I hope this helps.
