Hi Nadia,

If the MySQL instance that was being monitored was being placed under a stress test, then it's possible that it wouldn't respond to queries issued by the agent in a reasonable amount of time. That is what the error message means.

The read timeout can be adjusted in the "Advanced" tab of the dialog box displayed when clicking on "Edit Instance" in the "MySQL Instances" page. It defaults to 60 seconds. However, note that it doesn't make a lot of sense to make it longer than that, given the collection frequency for most items is also 60 seconds.

You may want to look in optimizing the configuration of your MySQL instance. If the agent can't issue queries while it's being stress tested, neither can your application.
