Can you use $_GET to select a column for SUM()

Hi.

I am trying to calculate multiple columns using the GET function to select the column, please see below...


$A=$_GET['a'];
$B=$_GET['b'];

"select *, SUM($A+$B) FROM table"

echo $row['SUM($A+$B)'];

I know it may seem a noob question, but I have tried everythinhg I can think of. Please help me sort it.
