Is this a suitable plan

I have two web servers which are load balanced and a single MySQL Server handling all of the database traffic as well as serving up our images. This single server is proving to be a bottle neck. I am hoping to improve performance as well as provide a failsafe should one of the servers have a problem.

I am planning to move a copy of the database to each of the web servers and have them read and write the local server with replication between the servers to keep them in sync.

This seems too easy and I am sure I am missing at least one major pitfall.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance.
