Chuck,

If you're not seeing this error, your system has likely had System Integrity Protection turned off. This is far from the default behavior, even for machines which are used for intensive development, but it is possible to do. You can check your SIP status with the command "csrutil status", which will return "System Integrity Protection status: enabled." if SIP is enabled.

I have taken a series screenshots, however this forum prevents me from posting a link. All of the screenshots are consistent with the installer attempting to change files in SIP-protected directories. Please let me know the best way of linking you to these screenshots. This was done on a system that has never had its System Integrity Protection settings modified, and has never had any MySQL-related software installed on it. Prior to attempting to run the MySQL Utilities installer, Word was the most advanced application installed on this computer. All of this is to say that this machine has absolutely no complications related to other software installations or system modifications. Let me know if there's anything else I can provide.
