Load Balancing vs MySQL Fabric

I want to implement MySQL Fabric to better manage an event where the master fails in a replication configuration. I know that when using replication with GTIDs you can provide failover between master and slaves using the mysqlfailover utility. This is fine but it doesn't manage the application's connection when the master fails. Its my understanding the MySQL Fabric does both.

How is this different from using a smart load balancing solution?

I need help in explaining the benefits of MySQL Fabric and why its better than using something like CITRIX NetScalers. What documentation I've read and presentations I've have viewed does not provide adequate answers for our Solution Architects.
