mysql.sock file?

Hi,

I was wondering if it would be possible to get mysql.sock support in place?

I currently run a decent sized shared hosting enviroment and am trying to impliment a remote SQL server, but don't want to have to contact everyone to move their SQL connections to an actual IP.
