Things are looking better now, but there seems to be some leaking of connections.

I currently cannot create any more connections to the proxy, because the proxy has all the connections to the master in use. There are no client connections to the proxy, 1 connection between the proxy and the read-only backend, and 100 connections between the proxy and the master backend. If I try to connect to the proxy I get the following debug messages:

[connect_server]
[1].connected_clients = 100
[1].idling_connections = 0
[1].type = 1
[1].state = 1
[1] open new connection
[disconnect_client]
