Umm, cannot I pass the root password of the backend servers to the proxy so as it can handle the authentication itself?

Here is the scenario that may be possible,

1- I grant root access on proxy on mysql servers
2- I start the mysql-proxy and give it the root password of the backends
3- The mysql-proxy then get the remote address validate it against mysql.user table
4- The mysql-proxy decides whether I can gain access or not depending on my remote address and the password given ..


Can this work?
